The Southern Connecticut Conference, with the support of presenting sponsor j.roo’s of North Haven, is naming a female and male athlete of the month during the academic year. It is the fourth year that j.roo’s has sponsored the Athlete of Month award. Each recipient receives a certificate and $25 gift card to j.roo’s. j.roo’s is located at 243 State Street in North Haven.

SCC Athletes of the Month for January 2026

Noelle Lawrence, West Haven, girls basketball

Noelle led the Blue Devils to a 6-0 record during the month of January. She averaged 17.9 points a game, shooting an efficient 50 percent from the field. She also averaged 5.7 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 4.1 steal per game. She also scored her 1,000th point in a win over Daniel Hand on January 15. She scored 30 points in the victory.

Ryan Miller, Cheshire, boys ice hockey

A senior goaltender, Ryan was stellar during the month of January as the Rams won all seven games. He posted a 0.85 goals against average, including three shutout victories, and a .970 save percentage.
