The Southern Connecticut Conference, with the support of presenting sponsor j.roo’s of North Haven, is naming a female and male athlete of the month during the academic year. It is the fourth year that j.roo’s has sponsored the Athlete of Month award. Each recipient receives a certificate and $25 gift card to j.roo’s. j.roo’s is located at 243 State Street in North Haven.
SCC Athletes of the Month for November 2025
Sophie Sinisgalli, Foran, soccer
A senior defensive standout and captain, Sophie Sinisgalli was a key reason the Lions captured their first-ever girls soccer state title during the month of November. In five state playoff games, the Lions defensive unit allowed just two goals, culminated with a 3-2 victory over “heavily-favored” Northwest Catholic in the Class M state final on November 15.
Tim O’Malley, Daniel Hand, Football
A standout two-way lineman, Tim led the Tigers to an undefeated month during November, clinching their second straight SCC regular-season title and a berth to the Class SS playoffs. Tim’s standout play led Daniel Hand to win over fifth-ranked Fairfield Prep, 20-17, before taking down West Haven, 49-18, and rival Guilford, 41-3. Tim has committed to attend and play football at Lehigh University next fall.
