A team of 18 senior girls volleyball players represented the Southern Connecticut Conference at the first-ever Mohegan Sun Volleyball Showdown against a team from the Eastern Connecticut Conference on Monday, Jan. 29 at Mohegan Sun Arena.
The SCC team won 4-1 (25-19, 26-24, 25-14, 25-14, 14-16) in the pre-determined five-set match. The SCC team was led by Shelton’s Brielle LaFerriere, who was named the game’s Most Outstanding Player. In addition, Jonathan Law’s Samantha Chy earned the S.P.I.K.E. Award, which is given to the player who best exemplified the following characteristics — (Sportsmanship, Perseverance, Integrity, Kindness, and Effort).
