SCC Holds First-ever Football Weightlifting Competition

The SCC held its first-ever Football Weightlifting Competition on March 9 at the University of New Haven’s new Sports Performance Center. The UNH Sports Performance also oversaw the judging of the event. Twelve SCC football schools participated — Shelton, Hamden, Daniel Hand, Sheehan, Lyman Hall, Amity Regional, Branford, Wilbur Cross, West Haven, Harding, Jonathan Law and North Haven.

Many thanks to Shelton head coach Michael DeFelice and Hamden head coach/athletic director and football chairperson Tom Dyer for their coordination of the event.

Congrats to the top individual finishers at the SCC Weightlifting Competition

Ryan Kinik (Shelton), 825 points, 160 lbs-under 2nd place – Ashton Martin, Sheehan (755 points)

Mike Moran (North Haven), 885 points, 161-180 lbs 2nd place – Nick Ferraro, Sheehan (880 points)

Anthony Salerno (Lyman Hall), 1050 points, 181-200 lbs 2nd place – Jack Grant, Sheehan (1000 points)

Lance Mahon (Amity Regional), 920 points, 201-220 lbs. 2nd place – Brian Moran, North Haven (895 points)

Kenny Krause (Lyman Hall), 220 lbs-up- OVERALL WINNER with 1130 points 2nd place – Joe Vargas, Shelton (1045 points)

Congrats to Sheehan, which won the Team Title, and Lyman Hall, who finished second.
