Mercy head girls basketball coach Tim Kohs recorded his 600th career coaching victory on Tuesday, Jan. 20 with a 65-29 SCC home win over Cheshire.

Kohs, who also doubles as Mercy’s athletic director, is in his 33rd season and holds a 600-208 career record.

Kohs, 58, becomes the sixth CIAC coach to reach the milestone. The other five are: Fred Williams, Northwestern (749); Dave Strong, Masuk (704); Frank Lombardo, Holy Cross (668); Tony Floyd, Bristol Eastern (641); and Nick Economopoulos with stops at Lyman Hall, East Catholic, Coginchaug (619).

Under Kohs’ direction, Mercy has won three state championships (1996, 2013 and 2018) and made five other appearances, the last in 2023. The Tigers reached four consecutive Class LL championship games (2010-13), falling in the first three, but winning the last one in dramatic fashion over Lauralton Hall. He also has five SCC titles (2007, 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018) and eight league finals appearances.
