SCC’s January 2025 Athletes of Month, presented by j.roo’s of North Haven
The Southern Connecticut Conference, with the support of presenting sponsor j.roo’s of North Haven, is naming a female and male athlete of the month during the academic year. It is the third year that j.roo’s has sponsored the Athlete of Month award. Each recipient receives a certificate and $25 gift card to j.roo’s. j.roo’s is located at 243 State Street in North Haven.
Maya Quaranta, indoor track, Sacred Heart Academy
A senior headed to Yale University next fall, Maya is ranked first in the state (and 10th in the United States) in the shot put. Her throw of 45 feet, 5 inches highlighted the month and is the third best in state history. At the SCC West Sectional meet on January 29, she finished first with a throw of 44 feet, 1.24 inches.
Adam Signorello, swimming, Daniel Hand
One of the team’s captains, Adam earned seven first-place finishes (out of 11 individual races – and second-places in the other four) during the month of January. His top event is the 100 butterfly, but has excelled in the 200 IM, 100 backstroke and 50 freestyle. He is also a member of the 200 IM relay, which had five first-place finishes.
