SCC’s May Athletes of Month, presented by j.roo’s of North Haven
Will Allen, Cheshire
Will Allen led the Rams to a 11-1 record during the month of May, including both SCC regular-season and tournament championships. In the SCC semifinals on May 24, Allen posted 13 kills and five digs as the Rams defeated Amity Regional, 3-0. Two days later in the championship match, Allen posted 15 kills and two access as Cheshire defeated rival Shelton, 3-1. For his efforts, he earned SCC Tournament Most Outstanding Player honors.
Sydney Hidalgo, Cheshire
The 2023 SCC Girls Golfer of the Year, Sydney Hidalgo had an outstanding month, earning medalist honors eight times in 11 matches for the Rams. On May 15, she shot 41 to lead the Rams to victory over Lauralton Hall. On May 22, she shot 40 to earn medalist honors in a win over Mercy. On June 1, she shot 85 to earn medalist honors at the SCC Championship at Blackhawk Country Club.
The Southern Connecticut Conference, with the support of presenting sponsor j.roo’s of North Haven, is naming a female and male athlete of the month during the academic year. Each recipient receives a plaque and $25 gift card to j.roo’s.
