SCC’s December 2024 Athletes of Month, presented by j.roo’s of North Haven
The Southern Connecticut Conference, with the support of presenting sponsor j.roo’s of North Haven, is naming a female and male athlete of the month during the academic year. It is the third year that j.roo’s has sponsored the Athlete of Month award. Each recipient receives a certificate and $25 gift card to j.roo’s. j.roo’s is located at 243 State Street in North Haven.
Ivy Massicotte, ice hockey, Amity Regional/The Blades
A sophomore goaltender, Ivy recorded a 4-2 record during the month of December with an impressive 1.33 goals against average and two shutouts. Ivy recorded a .939 save percentage in the six games. She recorded back-to-back shutouts against Ridgefield (Dec. 23, 18 saves) and Hamden (Dec. 28, 23 saves) to close out the month.
Abdou Toure, basketball, Notre Dame
Abdou led the Green Knights to a 5-1 record during the month of December. Abdou averaged 27 points, six rebounds, four steals and three blocked shots per game. He started the season with a 42-point effort in Notre Dame’s 76-59 victory over Ridgefield in the SCC-FCIAC challenge. Toure, a junior, scored his 1,000 career point on December 30 against Edgewater (Fla.).
