Foran Softball Presented with SCC’s “Best of 2024-25” Award

Congratulations to head coach Gina Georgetti and the Foran softball team for winning the SCC’s “Best Of… 2024-25”, presented by Town Fair Tire – the BEST place to buy tires!

The 2024-25 season was one of — if not the best season – for the Southern Connecticut Conference with a record 31 state titles and 25 state runner-ups.

Foran won the SCC and Class M state softball titles in 2025.  The Lions, who finished the regular season with a 20-0 record, but entered the league tournament as the number two seed and defeated eventual Class LL state champion Cheshire, 2-1, in the SCC title game on May 29.  It was the Lions’ first SCC title since 2012.

More impressively, Foran would go and secure a perfect 28-0 season with a 1-0, 13-inning victory over Woodland on Sunday, June 15.  Junior pitcher Abby Corris had 32 strikeouts in the state title game – it was the Lions’ first state title since 2011.

SCC Commissioner Al Carbone was able to spend time with Coach Georgetti, assistant coach Abbigail Blanchard along with Abby Corris and catcher Emily Speringo to present them with their plaque and have some fun.

As a bonus treat, Commissioner Carbone got to take a few swings against Abby.  Let’s just say the good ole Commissioner (a former baseball player) was able to make “some” contact (two foul balls) before graciously falling victim to a swinging strikeout off the Lions’ All-State hurler.

It was apparent the Foran softball analytics staff along with Abby and Emily successfully strategized to use the “outside corner” against the lefty swinging Commissioner!

Special thanks to Foran athletic director Jeff Raucci for setting it all up!
