The Southern Connecticut Conference announced its 2024 football schedule (pdf) on Feb. 14.
The SCC is also part of the Connecticut High School Football Alliance along with five others leagues in the state (CCC, CTC, ECC, FCIAC and SWC). The Alliance also released its 2024 schedule. See Feb. 14 press release below.
101 teams representing six Connecticut high school football leagues will participate in the Connecticut High School Football Alliance, scheduling a total of 101 games for the upcoming 2024 season.
30 teams from the Central Connecticut Conference, 21 from the Southern Connecticut Conference, 16 from the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference, 14 from the Eastern Connecticut Conference, 12 from the South-West Conference, six from the Connecticut Technical Conference, along with one independent (Hartford Public) and one school from Rhode Island (Bishop Hendricken) will participate in Alliance games during the fall of 2024.
Representatives from each league participated in a scheduling meeting to develop the 2024 schedules. All of the match ups consist of inter-conference contests, and will occur in weeks one (Sept. 13, 37 games) and three (Sept. 27, 43 games).
There are also additional matchups in other weeks (2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10 and 11) due to openings caused by league membership imbalances (odd number of teams, or openings caused by pre-existing Thanksgiving week matchups) or a need to find more competitive match-ups for teams that their individual leagues could not accommodate through their respective league schedules.
Teams that participate in Alliance games have reaped the benefits of competitive regular-season scheduling. In 2023, all six state champions played at least one Alliance game during the regular season. In fact, the top 16 teams in the final state high school polls were Alliance schools.
Since 2019, 34 Alliance teams (out of 40 total) have appeared in state championship games and have won 18 titles (won by 15 different schools representing the CCC, ECC, FCIAC, SCC and SWC) in those 20 contests.
