Sacred Heart Academy Captures the 2025 SCC Girls Basketball Title, presented by Vertical Hoops

Congratulations to top-seeded Sacred Heart Academy, who captured the 2025 SCC Girls Basketball title with a 56-43 victory over #7 Hamden before 1,432 at Quinnipiac’s M&T Bank Arena.

The Sharks jumped out to a 20-8 first quarter lead behind 15 combined points from Molly Gunning (8 points) and Lyla D’Errico (7). SHA extended its lead to 14, 36-22, at halftime. D’Errico had 13 first-half points for SHA, while Aunee Brookshire had nine points and nine rebounds for Hamden.

SHA extended its lead to as many as 21 points, 47-26, midway through the third quarter. Hamden was able to cut the lead to 12 early in the fourth quarter but go no closer.

D’Errico led four SHA double figure scorers with 16 points, while Tournament Most Outstanding Player Emily Mennillo had 11 points and added six assists. Gunning scored 11 points and had five steals, while Maddie Burke contributed 10 points and four rebounds.

Brookshire led Hamden (16-8) with 13 points and a game-high 15 rebounds.

It was the Sharks’ fourth league title.
