The Southern Connecticut Conference will host its 12th Cheerleading Competition on Saturday, February 4, at Shelton High School. The competition will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tickets are $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for students and senior citizens. Children under six will be admitted free.

Xavier captured the 2017 SCC Wrestling Championship, held on Feb. 11 at Wilbur Cross High School. It was the Falcons' sixth SCC title (2015, 2014, 2012, 2011 and 2003).
The SCC held its 23rd annual All-Conference Football Banquet on January 9 at Anthony's Ocean in New Haven. Sixty-nine All-Conference players were recognized along with the OrthoNOW/SCC Players and Coaches of the Year. In addition the three 2016 "tier" champions - West Haven (I), Hillhouse (II) and Sheehan (III) were feted.

Blanchette Sporting Goods is the presenting sponsor of the SCC Scholar Athlete Recognition program. The Scholar Athlete recognition program recognizes the “best of the best” in the SCC. Recipients are selected by their school’s coaches and athletic directors. Recipients must have a minimum of a B (3.0) average overall and be a varsity letterwinner. The recipients should also demonstrate leadership qualities by: being a positive role model for other students both on and off the field; exhibiting an ability to help a teammate overcome adversity; showing a commitment to self-improvement; and putting the needs of the team before themselves.
