Shelton's Pat Gillen is National Wrestling Finalist

Congratulations to Shelton senior Patrick Gillen, who wrestled for the 215-pound national high school title on Sunday, April 3 in Virginia Beach, Va.   Gillen fell to New York's Nick Gwiadowski in a fall at 4:57 - it was Gillen's first loss of the season in 54 bouts.   Gillen was the third wrestler from the state of Connecticut to compete for a national title.   Gillen finished his high school career with a 204-15 career record and his 201 wins make him the state's all-time winningest wrestler.

Gillen is a four-time All-SCC, three-time All-State and two-time All-New England honoree.   Gillen, who has accepted a scholarship to attend the University of Virginia, was recently named a SCC/SportsCenter of Connecticut Scholar Athlete of the Month.
