SCC Boys Basketball Championship Game Info

The 2017 SCC Boys Basketball Championship game, held at Quinnipiac's TD Bank Sports Center, between #1 Notre Dame (22-0) and #2 Hillhouse (22-1) is officially a SELL-OUT! 

Prior to the game, the SCC will recognize 24 student-athletes selected to First and Second Team All-SCC.  In addition, the SCC will recognize the OrthoNOW Player and Coach of the Year -- Notre Dame senior guard Tremont Waters and Notre Dame head coach Jason Shea.

Hillhouse Defeats Notre Dame, 70-62, to win 2017 SCC Boys Basketball Title

Before a sold-out crowd of 3,421 at Quinnipiac's TD Bank Sports Center, #2 Hillhouse defeated #1 Notre Dame, 70-62, in a much-heralded matchup. With the win, Hillhouse improved to 23-1.  Notre Dame suffered its first loss (22-1) of the season.

Joey Kasperzyk scored 10 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter as Hillhouse pulled away for the victory. It was the record seventh SCC tournament title for the Academics, breaking the tie with city-rival Wilbur Cross. It was Hillhouse’s first title since 2013. Christian Adams (18 points) was named the tournament MVP.  Notre Dame was playing in its first final since 2000.

All teams that win eight regular-season games qualify.   Sixteen games (8 division, 6 crossover, and 2 interdivision)  will be used to seed the teams that qualify.

First Round - Thurs., Feb. 23 @Higher Seeds – 6:30 p.m.

Quarterfinals - Sat., Feb. 25 @Branford HS - Session 1: 11 a.m., 12:45 p.m./Session 2: 4 p.m., 5:45 p.m. 

Semifinals - Mon., Feb. 27 @Floyd Little Athletic Center - 6 and 7:45 p.m.

Championship Game - Wed., March 1 @TD Bank Sports Center – Quinnipiac University - 7 p.m.

Justin Campbell scored a game-high 20 points, and Tournament Most Outstanding Player Tyrell Eaddy had 10 points and five assists as third-seeded Career jumped out to a 37-18 halftime lead before defeating top-seeded Fairfield Prep, 81-59, in the 2015 SCC Boys Basketball Championship Game before 1,108 fans at Quinnipiac's TD Bank Sports Center.   It is Career's third SCC title (2002, 2012 and 2015).
 
Prior to the game, the SCC honored the members of the 2014-15 All-Division teams and the OrthoNOW/SCC Player and Coach of the Year.  Congratulations to Hamden's Jarrad Beck (Coach of the Year) and Career junior guard Tyreek Perkins (Player of the Year).
