Sheehan Wins Class L State Title

Another Banner Year for the SCC: Three SCC teams - including an All-SCC matchup in Class L - will compete for state titles in 2010.  Sheehan defeated Notre Dame, 9-4, in the Class L final. It was the fifth straight year a SCC team won the Class L title.  Five SCC teams reached the semifinal round in their respective divisions, this after eight had reached the quarterfinals.

Class L Semifinals - Tuesday, June 8

Sheehan 4, North Haven 3 - Titans to make first state championship game appearance since 2005

Notre Dame 5, East Lyme 0 - Green Knights make first state championship game appearance since 2000

Class L Championship Game - Friday, June 11 @Palmer Field - Middletown

Pomperaug 6, Shelton 3 (8 innings) 

Xavier 3, Bristol Central 1 - Falcons make first state title appearance as SCC member (and first since 1980)

Pomperaug 2, Xavier 1 FINAL

* It is the third time two SCC teams will play for state baseball title (2002, Lyman Hall beat East Haven, 5-2, in Class L; 2000, Notre Dame beat Cheshire, 4-0, in Class LL.

* It is the second time that three SCC schools have made the baseball state championship games (1996 - Cheshire, Notre Dame and Derby).
