7 SCC Teams Win Spring State Titles; League-Record 25 for the Year

Congratulations to the seven member school teams who have won 2012 spring state championships: Hillhouse girls outdoor track & field (Class MM), Daniel Hand girls tennis (Class M) and golf (Division II), Amity softball (Class LL), Cheshire boys volleyball (Class L), Fairfield Prep boys lacrosse (Class L) and Shelton baseball (Class LL).

All told in 2011-12, SCC teams won a record 25 state championships (tying the league record set back in 1996-97)... 19 more teams earned state runner-up status during the year... Click here for the complete list (pdf)



Class L Baseball Semifinals - New Canaan 8, Sheehan 4... Titans finish 14-10

Class L Boys Volleyball Semifinals  - Cheshire 3, Glastonbury 0 (26-24, 25-17, 25-16)





Class L Boys Lacrosse Semifinals - Fairfield Prep 10, Simsbury 7

Class L Girls Lacrosse Semifinals - Cheshire 12, Hall 10

Class L Boys Volleyball Championship - Cheshire 3, Ridgefield 1 (25-20, 25-18, 20-25, 25-21)... Rams (23-0) win 2nd straight state title... Class L Boys Lacrosse Championship - Fairfield Prep 8, Ridgefield 6... SCC champion Jesuits (19-3) win first state title since 2009. Media Coverage: New Haven Register, Connecticut Post

Boys Tennis State Open -  Three student-athletes from the SCC competed in the semifinals  (Bradley Orban - Foran; Alex Rieger; Andrew Ginzberg - Amity; Scott Rubinstein - Daniel Hand)... Congratulations to Foran's Bradley Orban who captured the State Open title- winning 7-5, 6-2 over Reid Risinger (Glastonbury).  Media Coverage: New Haven Register, Connecticut Post, Hartford Courant
