Connecticut Orthopaedic Specialists to Offer "Comeback Player" Scholarship

SCC corporate sponsor Connecticut Orthopaedic Specialists will, once again, offer a $1,000 scholarship to two student-athletes who can be called “Comeback Players.”

The two senior student-athletes (one male, one female from a SCC member school) are ones who have suffered an injury in the past year and have successfully returned to the playing field.  It doesn’t matter if the student returned as a star athlete or not; the goal is to recognize the hard work and diligence of the comeback and their personal influence on their teammates.

Worthy candidates from any of the three seasons (fall, winter and spring) are nominated by their school’s coaches and athletic directors and an submitted application will describe their particular story that makes you feel they qualify for this unique scholarship. The scholarship winners will be announced in late April.

The inaugural winners of the scholarship were  Katie Winkle (softball, Sacred Heart Academy) and Jack Singleton (football, Guilford).  Click to read more about the 2011 recipients.
