#SCC25 Turn Back the Clock – March 10

A couple significant feats have come on March 10 in the 25-year history of the Southern Connecticut.


Guilford Girls Basketball Goes 27-0

On March 10, 2001, the Guilford girls basketball completed a perfect 27-0 season by winning the Class L girls basketball state championship.  The Indians defeated Brien McMahon, 87-60, in the final game behind 29 points from Ashleigh Bepko and 21 points from Nora Bowman.  It was the Indians’ first state title.   Guilford also won the 2001 SCC championship, defeating Career, 71-48, two weeks earlier.

Precious is Awesome


March 10, 2013 – Hillhouse senior Precious Holmes runs her way to All-America status after winning the 400 meters (53.43 seconds) at the New Balance Indoor Track nationals at The Armory in New York City.  Holmes went on to run indoor and outdoor track at the University of South Carolina.

Dyshon Jumps to National Title


March 10, 2018 – Career’s Dyshon Vaughn captured the long jump national championship with a jump of 24.5.5 at the New Balance National Indoor Track Championship Meet at The Armory in New York City.  Vaughn now attends Texas A&M-Kingsville.
