2018 SCC Football Schedule Finalized - FINALLY!

UPDATE - There were more changes to the 2018 SCC Football Schedule, specifically involving East Haven and Branford (who will not play each other for a second time).

The Southern Connecticut Conference has finalized its 2018 football schedule.  With the recent news of the closure of Creed Health & Sciences High School, which ended the Creed/Career/Whitney Tech co-op football program, the SCC had to fill games of the Howling Wolves’ 10 opponents.

2018 was the second-year of a two-year SCC football schedule, which included Connecticut High School Football Alliance match-ups in week two and six with teams from the South-West Conference and Eastern Connecticut Conference.

“While it was extremely disappointing to hear about the closing of Creed and for the student-athletes were affected, the more urgent issue was how would quickly fill the open weeks for the 10 teams at such a late date,” SCC Commissioner Al Carbone said.  “The overiding issue with football scheduling is ensuring competitive matchups.  The majority of SCC teams affected by Creed's closing were in Tier 3, and it took some some creative ideas to fill the gaps, including two schools – East Haven and Branford – playing a second game, which is allowed.”

Seventy-Six Student-Athletes Honored at SCC All-Conference Football Banquet

Seventy-six players were recognized at the 24th annual SCC All-Conference Football Banquet, which was held on Sunday, Jan. 7 at Anthony's Ocean View in New Haven.

In addition, the conference's player and coaches of the year (Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3) were recognized.
