Connecticut High School Football Alliance Announces 2019 Schedule

Eighty-four teams representing five Connecticut high school football leagues will participate in the Connecticut High School Football Alliance, scheduling a total of 99 games in the 2019 season.  This is the third year the Alliance has scheduled football games.  In the 2017 and 2018 seasons, the SCC, SWC and ECC scheduled a total 80 games.

Twenty-one teams from the Southern Connecticut Conference along with 12 from the South-West Conference and seven from the Eastern Connecticut will participate.  For 2019, the Central Connecticut Conference (32 teams) and the FCIAC (12 teams) have joined the Alliance.  A majority of the Alliance matchups will take place in weeks two (Sept. 20), three (Sept. 27), six (Oct. 18) and seven (Oct. 25) of the 2019 season.   There will also be games held in weeks one (Sept. 13), five (Oct. 11), eight (Nov. 1) and 11 (Nov. 22).

Representatives from each of the leagues met several times over the past few months to develop the schedule and matchups, which were based on such factors as classification, school enrollment and recent program success.

“Non-league games offer a bit of excitement and intrigue during a football season, especially with the focus on getting to the state playoffs. The SCC is pleased to be part of this partnership, and believes the Alliance is a critical step in getting towards true statewide football scheduling.” -- SCC Commissioner Al Carbone

"The SWC is proud to partner for a third season with the SCC and ECC and for the first time with the CCC and FCIAC in out-of-league football scheduling. Scheduling out-of-league games creates more competitive games for both large and small schools and generates more interest in high school games. This is good for high school football fans and most important, good for the students who play high school football in Connecticut.” -- SWC Commissioner Dave Johnson

“The Connecticut High School Football Alliance has been extremely helpful in filling schedules for the Eastern Connecticut Conference.  Some of our schools needed to find 5 games out side of the league generated schedule.  Filling the schedules for these schools would not have been possible without the scheduling alliance.  The games that were created through the efforts of the league representatives of the alliance are appropriate and competitive.  The Eastern Connecticut Conference is appreciative for all that participated in the scheduling alliance.” --  ECC Commissioner Gary Makowicki

“The Central Connecticut Conference is excited to take part in this concerted effort for its first year. The criteria used to schedule these out of league opponents, should certainly produce highly competitive games for all our member schools, while adding the opportunity to potentially develop new rivalries with schools in other leagues.”  - CCC Commissioner Dan Scavone

“The FCIAC is looking forward to the opportunity to compete against out of league opponents during the upcoming 2019 football season.”-- FCIAC Commissioner Dave Schulz.
