CHAMPIONSHIP GAME - WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 1, 2006
#1 Cheshire 0, #3 Xavier 0  - teams will share SCC title

Recap: Even 100 minutes of thrilling action couldn’t determine a sole winner of the 2006 Southern Connecticut Conference boys’ soccer championship. Third-seeded Xavier used a goal from Steve Gennuso in second half stoppage time to force a 1-1 draw with No. 1 Cheshire. After two scoreless 10 minute sudden-death overtime periods, the teams were declared co-champions. Each club earned a share of its second SCC title. Xavier won the 2001 title. Cheshire captured the 2000 crown. Neither team connected for a goal in the first half. However, the Rams struck 14 minutes into the second half on a penalty kick goal from D.J. Pereira in the 54th minute. Xavier goalkeeper Andrew Esposito finished with seven saves. Cheshire keeper Kyle Moscovics turned away six shots
