Twenty-Five SCC Football Players to Play in Hall of Fame Classic

Twenty-five SCC football players were selected to play in the Connecticut High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame Classic, which will be played on Saturday, June 29 at Rentschler Field in East Hartford (4:30 p.m.). For more information, visit www.cthssports.com

SCC Hosts 19th All-Conference Football Banquet

On January 7, the SCC hosted its 19th annual All-Conference Football Banquet at Anthony's Ocean View in New Haven.  Fifty-six all-conference players were recognized along with the four divisional champions (Xavier, Daniel Hand, Hillhouse and North Haven).

SCC/FCIAC Football Game Times and Dates are Set

The SCC and FCIAC have finalized the dates and times of the 24 football games (17 games during week #1 and the seven additional “bye” week games that occur) they will play in the 2013 regular season.  Please note the home teams will switch in the second year (2014).

Hand Wins Walter Camp Kelly Award

Daniel Hand High School of Madison, the consensus No. 1 team in the state high school football season-ending polls, is the Walter Camp Football Foundation’s choice to receive the Joseph W. Kelly Award, which is awarded annually to Connecticut’s top high school football team.  Click here to read the release from the Walter Camp Foundation

 

It is the third time that Daniel Hand has earned the Kelly Award (1997 and 2004).   It is also the fourth consecutive year a team from the Southern Connecticut Conference has won the honor (Notre Dame of West Haven, 2009, Xavier, 2010 and 2011).

Three SCC Football Teams Win State Titles!

Three SCC football teams – Xavier (Class LL), Daniel Hand (Class L) and Hillhouse (Class M) – won their respective CIAC state championship games played at Rentschler Field in East Hartford on December 7-8.   The three state titles ties the record for the league (2005 - the SCC won three when there was six divisions).  In addition, it is the fourth straight year the SCC has won at least two state football titles.  Congratulations!
